Never be clever.

I left my Git at home

Hot on the heels of yesterday's post, here's a short, bittersweet interaction I had during a hackathon. "Learn LLM prompting, build a chatbot, some coding skills required". There was an introductory lab where people could get the hang of calling OpenAI with the python library. Someone in one of the teams was visibly agitated during preparations.

"You doing okay, did you clone the repo yet? "
"Yeah, uh, I need a few more minutes before I'm ready..."
I look over at some frantic copy-pasting activity
"Are you copying and pasting those lines from GitHub? Did you leave your Git at home?"
"Yeah, sorry, I forgot that we were supposed to bring ours... But don't worry, I almost got it done!"

Godspeed and good luck, my fellow human being, on the wonderful journey that is life in the tech sector. May you forever live in a country where the people are kind, the winters are short and the corporates flush with low-interest cash.
